Thirteen state Medicaid programs cover GLP-1s for obesity under fee for service, three of them changed the rules on January 1, and a dozen telehealth companies advertise a monthly price that turns out to be a membership, a compounded vial, or both.

The difference

Eleven directories rank providers. None of them verify one.

A ranked list is easy to write and worth nothing, because the thing a reader actually needs to know is whether the company is what it says it is. So the audit is the product. Five checks, on the provider's own pages, on a stated date.

Where a check has not been done, the row says so. It never says "yes" because the provider's marketing said so.

    Dispensing pharmacy

    Who physically fills it, whether they compound it or dispense a manufactured product, and whether they are licensed to. It decides what is legally in the vial.

    LegitScript certified

    Certified or not, on the date we looked. It is the certification the ad platforms themselves check before they will run a healthcare advertiser.

  3. 03

    Price shown before intake

    Whether the full monthly price is visible before you hand over a medical history, or only after.

  4. 04

    Cancel online

    Whether you can stop a recurring charge yourself, or have to call during business hours to do it. No federal rule requires the easy version: the one that would have was struck down in 2025.

    Prescriber disclosed

    Whether the clinician writing the prescription is named, or at least their licensing state is stated. A prescriber has to hold a license in the state you are physically in at the time of the consultation.

Formularies change on January 1

  • south-carolina April 1, 2026

    South Carolina announced the end of weight-loss coverage for January 1, 2026, but its own list did not change on that date. The January 1, 2026 edition still shows a weight management agents class with Wegovy preferred. The class first disappears in the April 1, 2026 edition, and no February or March edition was published.

  • pennsylvania January 1, 2026

    Pennsylvania ended coverage of GLP-1s for overweight and obesity on January 1, 2026, and added the class to the statewide preferred drug list. Obesity treatments that are not GLP-1s stay covered.

  • north-carolina December 12, 2025

    North Carolina stopped covering GLP-1s for obesity on October 1, 2025 and reinstated coverage on December 12, 2025, back to the criteria that applied on September 30, 2025.
