Medicaid coverage

Maine: what Medicaid covers

MaineCare’s July 1, 2026 preferred drug list covers Wegovy and Zepbound, but only for non-weight-loss indications. Wegovy is a preferred cardiometabolic agent limited to MACE reduction and MASH, and its criterion states it is not being used for weight loss only. Zepbound is limited to moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea. Saxenda is not on the list, and the PDL’s weight-loss category says weight loss drugs are not covered.

If the answer is no. Around 45% of initial prior authorizations for these drugs are refused, and 35 to 45% of first-level appeals are overturned. A refusal is not the end of the process, and the cash-pay routes are priced on this site alongside it.
