Medicaid coverage
New Jersey: what Medicaid covers
New Jersey told its own legislature that the program covers weight-loss drugs only in limited circumstances: the approved indications other than weight loss, and children, where federal EPSDT rules require it. A widely republished tracker lists New Jersey among twelve states covering Zepbound for obesity, which is not what the state says.
| Drug | Position | Criteria |
|---|---|---|
| Semaglutide | Other indications only | Covered when clinically appropriate for cardiovascular disease |
| Tirzepatide | Other indications only | Covered for sleep apnea |
| Liraglutide | not checked | The memo names Wegovy and Zepbound as examples and does not name Saxenda |
