Semaglutide is a licensed GLP-1 receptor agonist. It is sold as Ozempic for type 2 diabetes, Wegovy for chronic weight management and cardiovascular risk reduction, and Rybelsus as an oral tablet for type 2 diabetes.

The semaglutide shortage was declared resolved in early 2025, ending the 503A compounding exception. On 30 April 2026 the FDA proposed removing semaglutide from the 503B bulks list. Novo Nordisk sells directly through NovoCare, which several telehealth providers have integrated.
